WHEN IT’S TIME FOR A RELATIONSHIP RESET and nine tips to help you heal.

“So the Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help." NLT Isaiah 30:18

You know that person who you’ve loved...
A friend, a family member, a co-worker?
You never imagined a problem in your relationship with them.

Each time you’re brought back to a place of unease with the same conversation. Maybe there’s concern with his/her increasing destructive behavior. It seems that the time you spend together is unproductive or leads to arguments.

You’re a good friend, a loyal friend. One who sticks with a loved one through thick and thin.

She doesn’t want to hear your advice. There’s a new wedge between you that hasn’t been there before.

It’s like you’re on a different page.

Have you ever thought God was separating you for a season? Maybe he is preparing you for circumstances in your life where you will need new skill sets.

He is drawing you both closer to himself.

It’s not forever. And it causes a hole in your life. It feels lonely, uncomfortable and hurts your heart.

Some ways I’ve learned to handle a relationship reset~

  • Take it to God and talk with him about it. Reading through the Psalms is a wonderful place to start.

  • Allow yourself time away from the busyness of your days to revisit what is important in your life.

  • Do something new to refresh from the monotony of chores and responsibilities. What have you always wanted to do but not had the time? What did you love to do as a child? I started trail running to bring me joy. Simple activities can bring healing.

  • Pray for your loved one. And speak blessings over them to other people.

  • Any hurts or offenses can be taken to the Lord. Ask him to show you the other person’s side.

In time, you’ll remember the good times and the difficulties will fade away.

  • While you’re waiting spend more time meditating on the word. And being quiet.

  • Journal your thoughts and what you’d like to see happen in your relationship.

  • When you’ve done what you can, give it to God and ask him to take care of your loved one

and leave it in his capable hands.

  • Whether your loved one is family or friend ask God to bring you the people you need for this

    new season.
You will be amazed by how he works through the problems and gives you a relationship reset.
