We're interrupting our regularly scheduled blogpost with the report of unexpected blessings! Last month after asking the Lord for some time to spend alone just to write, a friend offered me a week of pure bliss and solitude in Ocean City Maryland.
And as the Father can only provide~ the weather was a lovely 75 degrees, the condo sat on the back side of the bay and provided a view of the sunset that literally took my breath away. There is nothing that I did to earn this time.
All I did was ask. And, He provided. During the time of retreat He provided, the Lord showed me that He has created me to write, speak and influence this world for good. I am a communicator with a capital C. And, probably you are too
if you are reading this post.
My time at the bay was peaceful. Although I missed my family, in my daily devotions I was continually reminded that God has given us a family to raise, or a circle of influence in our lives and it is for Him to control whether we are
there or not, we must trust. So, I needed to surrender my family and daily routine to Him. Who better to watch over my loved ones then Him?
Next, I sat in the larger breakfast area and wrote, revised, drank coffee and ruminated what direction I needed the work in progress to go. It's hard work and sometimes even grueling. But, when the hours grew long as I sat to
make my story better, the ocean, only a few blocks away called to me. So, I threw on some shorts, a light jacket and flip flops to walk on the beach.
I'm not typically a beach person, but, when the Lord calls you to a thing, He gives you the peace and a sense of His presence that is like a blanket of confirmation that you're doing the right thing. With each step you take
in your destiny, whatever it may be, God will lead you and guide you to each new step. With each step of obedience, the confidence comes. When the difficulties seem too much and we doubt what He's told us, we can look back on these times of unexpected blessings.
The blessing came so suddenly, my husband and a friend had to cover for me at home with the household activities. I'm blessed to have a supportive family when it comes to my writing, so, they said "go".
Also, God has provided me with some pretty amazing friends, too.
My husband Sam was invited to play golf months before on the exact same weekend! It seemed providential for him to come down a few days early to stay with me and I looked forward to his arrival on Thursday.
After spending hours working on the manuscript, I was ready for his company.
But, life threw us a curve ball and he was unable to come after all. Disappointed, but, still blessed :-) I used that time to work another 8 hour day on my book.
My last day at the beach, I went souvenir shopping and even got myself some mementos of the time God answered my prayers and sent me to write at the beach.
When I first started this journey, I'd never have imagined the way He would provide me with the necessities~ computer, training, teachers, tribe and now uninterrupted time to do what He has called me to do.
Looking back on the start of this time in my life, I'd go to the Lord and say, "how's this going to go?" and, "I don't have money for that."
Just like any parent, I imagine Him looking down on me and shaking His head at my unbelief. And, so He is faithful. He has kept me on this path, regardless of my whining, stomping of my feet and my lack of
skills, desire to go the way He sent me.
Yes, even in the direction He's had me go I've grumbled and complained impatiently to just "get on with it."
Lean into the Lord and trust Him in the way you should go. Whether it's a trial you are facing,
or a time of Jubilee, He is forever watching over you and ready to answer your requests for more. Because Honestly, He is ever ready to provide you with His unexpected blessings.
May you see His kindness in your life today and in the years to come.
