I see patterns in my days. When I do, I begin to ask the Lord what it is that he wants to show me. These days, so many people are crying out for relief. So many folks are struggling with financial problems. Two women that I know, personally, are homeless. Cancer, depression, loss of loved ones...all of these issues are very real and deep~ they do not magically go away just by "thinking of happy things." It is true that so much of what we deal with in our lives is out of our control. The good news is that God IS in control. When there is no one else to turn to, he is waiting right there for us.
Rather then going to just "think good thoughts", it's important to know what the bible has to say about our very real and present problems.
Perhaps God has promised you a large sum of money to help others. But, your days are filled with bills instead of cash?
The most precious gift God has given to us is our faith in him. My brother was reminding me of that while we were taking down the 20 year old wallpaper from my kitchen.
When all else fails in this world, we have our faith. If this nation were to suddenly be overcome by a "new world order", we would still have our faith. No one can take that from you. More importantly, it is impossible to please God without faith.
We are surrounded by fear which only feeds the worries that we already have by our present circumstances, stormy weather, news of wars, famine, latest disease.
Here is the key~ find some scripture that speaks to your particular problem. We know that God is not a liar, he does not fail us like so many others do in our lives. Place your faith in Him and in his word and you will not be disappointed. Romans 5:5 "and hope does not disappoint us because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us."
To those of you who are struggling with heartbreak, my heart goes out to you today. This world is not an easy place to live. The comfort we have is to look to the only one who can help you. He will bring you out of the trouble that you are in and take you to a higher place. In the end, it will all seem trivial in the light of his glory.
For now, taste and see how good he is. And, that will be enough for you. I can say that because it is true. Proverbs 22: 12 "The eyes of the Lord keep watch over knowledge, (those who have knowledge ~ my words) but he frustrates the words of the unfaithful."
The king of the universe is ready to meet with you today as a father would for his child. Go to him, he will comfort you.
